Look Beautiful … Feel Fabulous! Fashion Photography Tips from El Paso Portraits
Ladies, it’s time to stop feeling guilty about who you are. You’ll never be as beautiful as you are right this moment! And I’m truly sorry to say this about my industry but if you’ve ever seen a picture of yourself that you did not like, it was the photographer’s fault. Not yours!
You may have heard that the camera adds 10 pounds but have you probably haven’t heard that a good photographer can take off 20.
I don’t know how many beautiful women have come up to me and told me that they’d love to have a beautiful picture of themselves but just don’t know how to pose.
Here are a few tips on posing to get great photographs:
1. The Cover Girl Pose: Every woman regardless of her age or waistline size can look good in this pose. This is a great pose for curvy gals. The trick is to remember that whatever is closest to the camera looks the largest! If you place your hands where you want your waistline to be and then bend slightly forward at the waist, you get a thinner waistline. If you’re young or really thin, then you’ll want to exaggerate and kick your hip to the side.
2. The Backwards Recline: Set on the floor or a box about 24 inches from a couch or other posing item and turning toward the camera, lean back with your arm on the couch. This pose lengthens your waist, creates that sexy “S” curve making your boobs look larger and your butt look smaller.
3. The Forward Triangle Seated Pose: Kneel on the floor and lean forward to place your arms on an ottoman or a posing bench like the one shown in the picture. Push your arms about two inches away from your body’s natural position. And move them slightly to the right again (about 1-2″). This pose creates beautiful triangle in your portraits, slimming your arms and your waistline, while making your boobs look larger.
4. The Turtle Pose – Ladies with double chins – I want to take a moment to address this special issue with you. We all have skin under our chins and sometimes it is more pronounced than at other times. It does not make you less beautiful. There is a great pose to get rid of it without photoshop and any photographer than does not use this pose to properly remove a double chin is simply being lazy and not looking at you when they take the picture.
Right now, reach your hand around to the back of your neck and feel your backbone. Find the spot where your neck connects to your back. Now, push your chin straight forward. As you do so, you will feel your shoulders go back. Remember how this feels. When you are in front of a camera and the photographer doesn’t tell you what to do, push your chin forward and tip it down (NOT UP).
I really believe that a well trained, caring photographer can create beautiful images of any woman regardless of her age or size. If you would love to feel beautiful and look fabulous in your photos, click the link below to schedule a FREE pre-portrait consultation:
