YouCaring.com – Amazing web site helps people in need, raise money, at no cost!
People gather together to take photos and create memories with portraits for a lot of happy reasons like weddings, celebrating a pregnancy, the birth of a child, the adoption of a new pet, a son or daughter who’s turning two or High School graduation.
People also gather to take pictures when there’s a serious illness or the death of a loved one because that’s when we are struck by the reality that we won’t be around forever and we want to give our loved ones something to remember us with.
For the most part, as “the photographer”, I am lucky to share in all of these events with my clients and I often feel as if they’ve become more like extended family members. Mostly, I get to be around for those “Happy” events but I am also acutely aware that not all babies come into the world healthy and there are times in our lives when just plain bad things happen and we need help.
Last night, as I was surfing around through other photography business web sites, looking for cool new photographer’s products (as I usually do) – I came across a post about a fellow photographer, in Indianapolis, who’s husband was tragically killed during a senseless robbery on December 4th – just two days ago. Someone had set up a fundraising page for her and her son to help her family during this tragic time. I followed the link to an astounding web site that made me cry and reaffirmed my faith in humanity.
This web site is called, “YouCaring.com.” It’s hosted by a non-profit organization that provides a platform for you to create a fundraiser for things like medical or funeral expenses and positive things, too – like a mission trip, adopting a baby or a pet rescue. But most importantly, ALL of the money raised goes directly to the person in need and there are NO fees.
