Maternity Photography | The Missing Picture | The Importance of Grandma

(Today’s Post Doesn’t Have a picture) Keep reading to find out why…

Miss Myriam was planning for her first baby and Dad wasn’t really involved in the pregnancy… But Myriam’s Mom was with her every step of the way…

She came to the pre-portrait consultation, she helped Myriam choose the outfits for her maternity session, and she came to the photo session with her as support.

On the day of the shoot, I asked her, “Ma’am, wouldn’t you like to be in some of the pictures with your daughter?”

“No,” she answered, shaking her head.

After Myriam changed clothes and we completed another set, I again asked her mother, with a little more urgency, “Ma’am, are you sure you wouldn’t like to have some pictures created with your daughter? I know she would love it.”

But again, her answer was, “No.”

When Myriam’s daughter was nine months old, she called to schedule a photo session to mark the baby’s milestone.

I was so happy to hear from her and couldn’t wait to catch up on the latest news…

“How is baby doing? How’s your Mom?” I asked.

What she said next brought tears to my eyes…

“Oh, April, my mom passed away a couple of months ago… It was sudden,” she said.

“I wish she would have taken some photos with me, that day, during my maternity session, when you asked her, so I could show them to my daughter. I really miss her.”
