Maternity Session with Cindy : Maternity Dress Pregnancy Gown
It all started in December 2013, I saw these cool maternity dresses online but they were really expensive and I thought, “I could make those for a lot less than that and have something unique, too!” But I didn’t have a sewing machine so I asked my Mom for one for Christmas. My mom doesn’t understand photography equipment and never gets me anything I ask for for Christmas, but she knows sewing machines!
Once I got my Brother sewing machine, I started thinking about all the different kinds of fabric and colors I could use. That demanded a trip to the fabric stores in downtown El Paso, Texas. Let’s see – soft fabrics and hip shaking, street salsa playing in the stores – What could be more fun than shopping in downtown El Paso?
With a little planning and about 6 hours at the sewing machine, I created 5 gowns and matching bandeaus in mauve, green, burgundy, purple and black.
I put out a modeling call and one of my facebook friends suggested Cindy. We were all excited and planning our session but she was nervous. “I’m not a model.”
“Don’t worry, it’ll be fun. I’ll help you with the posing and where to put your hands. And if we don’t like something, we can just delete it!”
We had everything all planned and then, I fell and broke my arm and had to put everything on hold.
Two days ago, I decided to check in with Cindy and see if she was still interested in having her maternity portraits created in one of my pregnancy gowns and she said, “I’d love to but I’m having a C-section on Wednesday.” My response was, “Well, I guess we better do it tomorrow!”
Needless to say, yesterday we created these beautiful maternity portraits in one of my pregnancy gowns and today, she is having her c-section and will soon see her beautiful baby boy and hold him in her arms!
