Dr. Vladik Kreinovich, Winner of the Zadeh Award | Professional Headshots

This month, I had the pleasure of photographing and creating professional corporate headshots for Dr. Vladik Kreinovich.

Dr. Kreinovich is a professor at the Computer Science Department here at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).

He is the newest recipient of the Fay and Lofti A. Zadeh Award given by the Society For Design and Process Science for major contributions to the theory and applications of fuzzy systems and related fields.

According to “WhatIs.com”, Fuzzy logic is an approach to computing based on “degrees of truth” rather than the usual “true or false” (1 or 0) Boolean logic on which the modern computer is based. The idea of fuzzy logic was first advanced by Dr. Lotfi Zadeh of the University of California at Berkeley in the 1960s.

Congratulations, Dr. Kreinovich for all of your hard work!

This photo session was a challenge because because of the size and reflective properties of the award. It weighs about 10 pounds and is made of lead crystal so the best way to photograph it was from far away and with my 300mm lens at an angle so I didn’t appear in the reflection.
